In each issue of Sports Illustrated Kids, we feature three kids who excel in sports, does well in school, and gives back to the community. These young athletes do it all — on and off the field! Meet this month’s SportsKids of the Month!
Ethan Leach, 10
Pleasant Hill, CA
Baseball
Last spring, Ethan hit for the cycle as a pitcher for the Pleasant Hill Baseball Association's Rangers team. He scored five runs, stole two bases, and retired the side twice in two innings pitched.
Clara James-Heer, 8
Coopersville, MI
Cross-Country
Despite suffering a serious back injury in 2013, Clara captured the USA Triathalon Youth National Championship (19:52.1) in August. She also won the AAU Cross Country National title (7:29.50) in December.
Clayton Osborne, 13
Williamsville, NY
Football
Clayton made history last season, breaking the Transit Middle School record for touchdowns (14) and total yards (1,107) as an eighth-grader with the Flames. The running back also set a single-game rushing record with 295 yards.
